If you’re a frequent listener of The Patrick Madrid Show or Morning Air, you likely know a little bit about Sam from Georgia.
Sam is visually impaired and has struggled with health problems, including a cancer diagnosis in the fall of 2020. All of these crosses began to weigh heavily on his shoulders. When he was starting to lose hope, he turned to Relevant Radio and our family of listeners, who helped him through the most difficult times.
“I want to thank all of you for praying and helping and being there for me when I needed somebody,” he said.
In March, Sam called back and shared some amazing news with Patrick: just one day prior, he found out that his cancer was gone!
“I am so happy today,” he explained. “It’s like yesterday was a new birthday, the first day of the rest of my life.”
But wait, it gets even better. One month after tests revealed that his cancer had gone into remission, Sam joined the Catholic Church. He was a Baptist when he began listening to Relevant Radio, and credits the network and our show hosts with inspiring his conversion over the past several years.
“I began listening and learning new things that I had never heard and that they don’t teach you outside the Catholic Church. And everything I heard, I researched and thought about and prayed about. And it’s just … I don’t know how to put it, it’s so powerful. It’s just the truth. I heard the truth and I wanted to be part of it,” said Sam.
During the Easter Vigil on April 3, Sam received the Sacrament of Confirmation and his first Holy Communion. And when he arrived for his first Confession before the Easter Sacraments, he says a woman recognized him because her sister from Maryland heard his story on Relevant Radio and told her about him.
God works in amazing ways.
