Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati is “a great example of wholesomeness, joy, service, and really the type of witness our world needs today,” said Alan Wright, Catholic speaker and author, in an interview on Morning Air® on Relevant Radio®.
He lived in Turin, Italy, and though he only lived to age 24, his short life was one of sacrifice and faithful joy. He was a daily communicant, shared his faith with those around him, and worked to promote Catholic social justice. He enjoyed mountain climbing and used every opportunity to gather others in prayer. As a Third Order Dominican, he paid special care to the sick and poor.
Frassati is a reminder to do small acts of love in the name of Christ. When he was just a young boy, a mother and son came to his door without shoes and he gave the boy the shoes off his feet. His joy in serving others, showing generosity and kindness is an imitation of Christ.

He was a joyful witness of Christ’s love to others and encouraged his friends to join him at Mass, in praying together, and studying Scripture. As Pope Paul VI says, “People are more impressed by witnesses than they are by teachers.” Frassati was an excellent example of that.
Blesed Pier Giorgio Frassati is also a patron for young adults, an inspiring witness of being extraordinarily faithful in ordinary things. “Verso L’Alto”, meaning “to the heights” or “toward the top”, a phrase he wrote on a photograph after his final mountain climb has become a motto for young Catholics as they strive to reach the summit of heaven.
