On this day in the year 1950, a holy man died on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota. His name is Nicholas Black Elk, and he was baptized Catholic in his late 30’s. He became a strong catechist and brought the Catholic Faith to many of the Lakota, who in turn became Catholic.
