Martha Fernandez-Sardina, I Have Called You By Name; Kathy Stang, Handling Grief During the Pandemic

  • Martha remarks that often we want a BIG name for ourselves or to come to an event associating that with success but Jesus reminds us by His very birth that being humble and not exalting our name is the best approach. she notes that God has already called us by name before birth and the importance of a name at birth or Confirmation. There is power in the name of God.
  • Kathy refers to all the complications the pandemic has inflicted on those who have lost a loved one and are mourning. She notes that sometimes we rest too long in “woulda, coulda shoulda” and comments on how we can help children who are dealing with the loss of a loved one or the experience of things they were once able to do and now can not.
  • Kathy speaks to wanting to take on other people’s burdens when they are going through something hard but noting that it is better to walk along side of them and offer support as they move through the process.
