Lesson 38: How to Receive Holy Communion

How do you receive Holy Communion?

Today’s Lenten Lesson: How to Receive Holy Communion

Do you know how to receive Holy Communion?

When Our Lady appeared to Adele Brise at the Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help in Wisconsin, her message was simple, clear and direct.  “Teach the children what they need to know for their salvation. . . Teach them their Catechism, how to sign themselves with the Sign of the Cross, and how to approach the sacraments; . . .”

And how are we to approach Holy Communion at Mass?  You should be a practicing Catholic, in the state of grace, having kept the one hour fast from food and beverage before Holy Communion.  For the rest, in the USA, the faithful are free to receive Holy Communion standing or kneeling, on the tongue or in the hand.

But we should try to receive Our Lord with piety, devotion, hunger, and desire. You get out of it what you put into it.

If you have missed a previous Lenten Lesson or bonus video on the Mass, you can find all of them here.
