“How Can I Get Out of Using Someone’s Preferred Pronouns?” (The Patrick Madrid Show)

How to Gracefully Avoid Using Preferred Pronouns (Without the Drama!)

Have you ever been forced to go along with someone’s preferred pronouns, and you don’t know what to do or say? Don’t freak out. You’re not alone in this!

Spoiler: Patrick gives you a super clever way to dodge the whole thing, and it’s all about flipping the script!

Here’s the move:

🗣 Step 1: Start with Tolerance – Kick off the convo by expressing how committed you are to tolerance. Something like, “Hey, before we dive into this, I just want you to know, tolerance is super important to me. Is it important to you too?” Of course, they’re going to say, “Yes!”

Step 2: Bring in Diversity – Now, reinforce that you also believe in diversity. “I’m all about diversity and letting people express themselves as they see fit. I think that’s key. Do you agree?” – cue another “Yes!”

💪 Step 3: Freedom to Live Your Life – Take it a step further by saying you don’t think anyone should be forced to live according to someone else’s terms. “I believe people should live how they want and not be forced into things they don’t agree with. You’re on the same page, right?” (Yep, they’re still nodding.)

🎯 Step 4: Drop the Truth Bomb – Now that they’ve agreed with you on everything – tolerance, diversity, and freedom, you calmly point out that forcing you to use specific pronouns would violate all of those principles. “Since we both agree on these core values, you can understand why I choose the pronouns I use. I know you’ll respect that.”

Boom. You’ve just laid down a logical foundation that’s tough to argue with. And when the name-calling starts (because let’s be real, it probably will), it completely contradicts everything they just agreed to!

Patrick’s method? 10/10 for turning a potentially explosive situation into a calm, reasonable discussion – all while staying true to what you believe. No fights, just facts.
