In this episode of The Inner Life, Patrick Conley sits down with Fr. Kris Stubna to talk about the significance of the Most Holy Name of Jesus. 🎧 Missed the show? You can catch the full episode here!
🎙️ Patrick kicks things off with a fun personal story about naming his bulldog Bingley (yes, from Pride and Prejudice: classy move, Patrick). This led perfectly into a conversation about the power of names in Scripture and why the Name of Jesus is set apart.
Why is the Name of Jesus so Powerful? Fr. Stubna explains:
The name “Jesus” means “God saves”. Even Mary and Joseph didn’t get to pick it: the angels revealed it.
Names reveal identity and mission. Think Abraham, Peter, John the Baptist: God changes names to reflect destiny and vocation.
The name of Jesus carries power. It invokes God’s presence, especially when we call on it in faith.
Fr. Stubna also reflects on how naming in Scripture often reflects God’s providence and the unfolding of His plan. It’s not random; It’s a sign of God working through history.
💡 Real-Life Miracle Alert! Listener Janet from California called in with a heart-stopping story about her 5-year-old son nearly drowning. 😢 After he was pulled from the pool, lifeless, Janet did the only thing she could: cry out the Name of Jesus. Immediately, her son started coughing and came back to life. 🙌 Now? He’s a 24-year-old Air Force veteran.
Fr. Stubna reminded us: “The Name of Jesus brings the full power of the Savior.” Nothing is impossible with God! 🌟
🎯 Takeaway Challenge:
Speak His Name with reverence. Not casually, not flippantly. His Name saves.
Call on His Name in times of need. Need courage? Healing? Peace? Say it out loud.
Remember the power behind the Name. It’s not magic: it’s relationship with the living God.
What’s in a name? When it comes toJesus, it’s everything. Call on Him. Trust Him. Be saved.
