Healing from emotional scars

Doug and Monica Hinderer give advice on childhood emotions and discuss the importance of stressing that the intellect controls the emotions and it is critical to teach children to think the right way. Doug and Monica also share what to do if you were raised in a highly critical home and give tips for what to do if you are in an abusive relationship.

Listener questions and comments:

  • Jack – I was raised in a very critical and negative family. It’s affected my life. When I was in the military, my family didn’t support me.
  • Angela – I grew up and experienced a lot of emotions and now I see the same in my children and don’t know how to deal with them because I did not have much support when I was young.
  • From an early age, children have to be taught to control their own emotions. It is good to teach them to pray to their guardian angel.
  • Maria – I unfortunately had to choose divorce because my husband didn’t treat me with respect. I sometimes wonder if I made right decision.
  • Mary – I separated from my husband who was physically and verbally abusive. I have a 6-year-old son. Did I do the right thing?
