“Carlo Acutis: Roadmap to Reality” Coming to Theaters Nationwide April 27-29 ONLY

A new documentary exploring the life of soon-to-be Saint Carlo Acutis will hit theaters across the U.S. for a special limited release from April 27–29, 2025. Carlo Acutis: Roadmap to Reality will debut on the same day the young Italian is set to be canonized as the Church’s first millennial saint by Pope Francis, a process through which the Catholic Church officially recognizes an individual’s extraordinary holiness and ability to inspire others.

The documentary is produced by Castletown Media in association with Jim Wahlberg and distributed by Fathom Entertainment in 1000 theaters across the country. It offers a timely look at how a young teenager from Milan, armed with profound faith and trust in Our Lord, managed to navigate and evangelize in the digital age, touching the hearts and minds of all those he encountered.

“Carlo’s story is not only inspiring—it’s deeply relevant,” said Tim Moriarty, the film’s writer, director, and CEO of Castletown Media. “He faced the same technological challenges our kids do today, but his response offers a radically hopeful alternative.”

Part biography, part pilgrimage, Roadmap to Reality follows a group of American high school students who travel from North Dakota to Italy on a journey that culminates at Carlo’s tomb in Assisi. However, there’s a catch: they must leave their phones at home and journey abroad free from technology, walking away from the devices that are so regularly a part of their lives.

Also joining the film as partners are the National Eucharistic Congress Inc. and the McGrath Institute for Church Life at the University of Notre Dame. The Congress has embraced the film as part of their work to spread devotion to and belief in the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist, which was central in Carlo’s Life. The McGrath Institute has developed educational resources that will give moviegoers a way to unpack the film’s themes and discuss them in their communities.

Roadmap to Reality features interviews with Carlo’s family and friends, as well as Catholic leaders and experts in technology. Together, they paint a picture of a young man who, despite living in a screen-saturated world, chose a different path—one of devotion to Christ in the Eucharist.

Producer Jim Wahlberg believes the film and its crucial lessons will resonate far beyond Catholic audiences: “Carlo’s life has the power to touch anyone,” he said. “We know this film will find its way into hearts across the country.”
