National Shrine of Our Lady of Champion Named Official Jubilee Pilgrimage Site

We are thrilled to share that the National Shrine of Our Lady of Champion has been officially designated as a Jubilee Pilgrimage Site for the 2025 Jubilee Year, a celebration of faith, hope, and renewal across the Universal Church.

As pilgrims journey to this sacred site in northeast Wisconsin, they are invited to experience the immeasurable mercy and hope that Christ has to offer. The Shrine offers a profound opportunity to deepen one’s spiritual life and participate in the Jubilee graces extended by the Holy Father.

Pilgrims who visit the Shrine during the Jubilee Year may receive a plenary indulgence, provided they are truly repentant of their sins and moved by a spirit of mercy. To receive the indulgence, the faithful are asked to:

  • Receive the Holy Eucharist

  • Receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation (within 20 days before or after the pilgrimage)

  • Make a Profession of Faith (Nicene Creed or Apostles’ Creed)

  • Pray for the Holy Father’s intentions for the Church and the world

These spiritual acts open the door to extraordinary graces and healing for the pilgrim’s soul.

The theme for the 2025 Jubilee Year is “Pilgrims of Hope.” In his letter announcing the Jubilee, Pope Francis urged the faithful to embrace the hope that we have been given and face the future with trust and fortitude.

In response to this invitation, the Church encourages the faithful to embark on pilgrimages—whether to Rome or to designated Jubilee sites within their own dioceses. We are deeply honored that Bishop David Ricken has named the National Shrine of Our Lady of Champion as one such official Jubilee Pilgrimage Site, and he welcomes pilgrims from every corner of the world to make the journey.
