Pope Leo XIV Meets with Tennis Champion Jannik Sinner and His Family

Pope Leo XIV welcomed Italian tennis star Jannik Sinner to the Vatican on Wednesday, along with Sinner’s family and the President of the Italian Tennis Federation, Alberto Binaghi. During the lighthearted encounter, Sinner offered the Pope a tennis ball and asked if he’d like to play, to which Pope Leo quipped, “Here we’ll break something. Best not to!” The meeting took place in the Paul VI Hall amid the ongoing Italian Open in Rome, where top international players, including Sinner, are competing until May 18.
