Patrick Madrid and Producer Cyrus give a nostalgic tribute to Brian Wilson, the musical mastermind behind The Beach Boys, who passed away at the age of 82.
Right out the gate, Patrick sets the tone: “I don’t even really need to explain who Brian Wilson was.” Because really, if you’ve ever heard surf rock, heavenly harmonies, or the phrase “Wouldn’t It Be Nice” … you’ve met the magic of Brian Wilson.

🎸 Beatles vs. Beach Boys: The Most Wholesome Rivalry Ever
Patrick drops a music-history nugget: Paul McCartney credited Pet Sounds as the direct inspiration for Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. 😲

Behind the Genius: Struggles with Mental Health
But the story wasn’t all surfboards and sunshine. Patrick mentions the darker undercurrents of Wilson’s life:
Mental health challenges, substance abuse, and years of seclusion
Despite that, Brian continued creating music… writing from home and heading into the studio solo when the touring days faded. The genius never stopped, just shifted.
Patrick reflects on who we’ve lost, but also who we’ve been given. Brian Wilson was brilliant, a true American original, a gift to music… and to the world. 🌊💙
