Rosary Novena Day 38: Your Sacrifice Matters

Have you ever wondered if your hard work matters?

Sometimes, after finishing a big project we step back and wonder if it really mattered. But one thing we know always matters is when we offer up our suffering for others! When we unite our suffering to Jesus Christ, He can always use it.

Remember the Benedictine monk that St. Margaret Mary agreed to offer up her suffering for? That wasn’t the only experience of redemptive suffering she had. Late in her life, St. Margaret Mary had an intense experience during prayer. Jesus showed her a nun who hadn’t lived her vocation well. He said:

“I am on the point of rejecting her from My Heart and abandoning her to herself.”

When we reject Jesus (in small ways or big ways) Jesus respects our free will. But when she heard this, St. Margaret Mary threw herself flat on the floor, begging Jesus for mercy. She asked Him to accept the wayward nun.

Suddenly, she felt Jesus’ anguish in her own heart! She bore the sufferings for that other nun who she had never even met. She felt severe temptations during that time in prayer. This mystical experience even caused her physical illness but in the end Jesus accepted her plea.

Your sacrifices and prayers for others make a difference.

This week, think of a time you can do something that will make a difference for someone else. Whether it’s a prayer or offering up suffering for them. Who knows? It may just save their soul!
