One Nation Under God: Eucharistic Pilgrimage Unites the Faithful Across America

Registration has opened for the public events of the 2026 National Eucharistic Pilgrimage, inviting Catholics across the country to take part in a visible expression of faith centered on the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist. This year’s pilgrimage, taking place May 24 – July 5, will travel along the East Coast uniting the faithful in prayer, worship, and witness as the Eucharist is carried through cities and communities from Florida to Maine.

At the heart of the pilgrimage is a renewed emphasis on Eucharistic devotion. A small group of dedicated pilgrims will accompany Our Lord throughout the entire journey, while public events will offer opportunities for Mass, Eucharistic adoration, and processions. These gatherings are not only moments of prayer, but also occasions for fellowship and charitable outreach, reminding Catholics that devotion to the Eucharist naturally overflows into love of neighbor. In recent years, this kind of public witness has contributed to a growing renewal of Eucharistic faith throughout the United States.

The pilgrimage also carries a strong historical dimension, as it coincides with the 250th anniversary of the nation. Under the theme “One Nation Under God,” the route highlights significant Catholic sites and moments in American history, beginning at the place of the first Mass celebrated on American soil in St. Augustine, Florida. Along the way, participants will encounter reminders of the Church’s deep roots in the country, including stops connected to early missionaries, historic dioceses, and national shrines. After extending up to Portland, Maine, the route concludes in Philadelphia with a period of continuous Eucharistic adoration and a final procession, bringing the faithful together in a city closely tied to the nation’s founding.

In addition to physical participation, the faithful are invited into a broader spiritual effort for renewal. The pilgrimage supports the bishops’ call to consecrate the nation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and encourages Catholics to offer Holy Hours for the spiritual renewal of the country. Prayer intentions, virtual resources, and ongoing formation help extend the pilgrimage beyond its route, allowing many more to take part.

This year’s pilgrimage stands as a clear reminder that the strength of the nation rests not merely in its history, but in its dependence on God. By bringing the Eucharist into the public square, the Church once again proclaims that Christ remains present, guiding and sustaining His people.
