MARK: Federal Policy changing Fertility Care?

A meaningful opportunity to support families and promote a culture of life took center stage on The Mark Swartzberg Show as Mark highlighted a proposed federal policy that could expand access to restorative fertility care.

The proposal, currently under consideration by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, would encourage insurance coverage for treatments that seek to identify and address the underlying causes of infertility rather than bypass them. Among the provisions being considered are coverage for restorative medical treatments, fertility awareness-based methods, preconception care, lifestyle interventions, and care for male-factor infertility.

Mark explained that these proposals represent a significant step toward making ethical, life-affirming fertility care more accessible to families. Instead of relying solely on costly reproductive technologies, restorative approaches work to diagnose and treat the medical conditions that may be preventing a couple from conceiving naturally.

The discussion served as an important reminder that building a culture of life involves more than opposing harmful practices. It also means promoting authentic solutions that respect both parents and the gift of every human life. By supporting restorative fertility care, Catholics have an opportunity to advocate for healthcare that seeks healing, honors God’s design for marriage and family, and provides hope to couples longing to welcome children.

Mark urged listeners to submit a public comment before the deadline, explaining that faithful participation in civic life can help advance policies that protect human dignity, strengthen marriages, and expand access to compassionate, life-affirming fertility care.
