October is Respect Life Month, and Patrick Madrid is sharing an urgent invitation for Catholics to defend the dignity of mothers and unborn children through prayer and action.
On The Patrick Madrid Show, Patrick highlighted a statement from Bishop Daniel Thomas of Toledo, Ohio, chairman of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Committee on Pro-Life Activities. This year’s Respect Life Month theme is Mary, Mother of Life.
“Our Blessed Mother is a role model for upholding the sanctity of all human life in every stage and circumstance,” Bishop Thomas said.
Patrick explained that the bishops are particularly concerned about the increased availability of abortion pills, including through telehealth appointments and the mail. Bishop Thomas warned that this can leave women facing abortions at home without medical supervision and create opportunities for exploitation by abusive partners or human traffickers.
“These affronts to human dignity demand our response,” Bishop Thomas said.
Patrick encouraged Catholics to respond with both prayer and concrete action. Resources, including action guides, videos, webinars, and other materials, are available at respectlife.org.
As Patrick emphasized, defending life calls Catholics to be “thoughtful and diligent and effective” in opposing abortion and supporting mothers and their children.
