St. Joseph Novena: Day 8

Listen to today’s reflection below:

Tomorrow, May 1, we will consecrate Relevant Radio® and our worldwide family of listeners to St. Joseph on the Feast of St. Joseph the Worker, at 3:30 pm Central time.  Here is the first part of the Consecration:

O great St. Joseph, the golden crown you wear is a small sign of our gratitude for the extraordinary blessings you have brought upon Relevant Radio ever since our first pilgrimage to the Oratory of St. Joseph in Montreal in February, 2010.

Today we consecrate Relevant Radio to you. All of our programs, all of our efforts, all of our Benefactors, Associates, Listeners and Board of Directors we consecrate to you.  All of our thoughts, all of our dreams, our bodies, our souls: we consecrate to you.

In return dear St. Joseph, we beg that you protect us as you diligently protected the Blessed Mother and Jesus.  Help us to be faithful to the Magisterium and the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Help us remain united to the Bishops.  Help us to always be proudly under the protection of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Our Lady.

Now please join me in praying today’s novena prayer to St. Joseph:

Oh, St. Joseph,
whose protection is so great, so prompt, so strong,
before the throne of God,
I place in you all my interests and desires.
Oh, St. Joseph,
do assist me by your powerful intercession,
and obtain for me from your Divine Son
all spiritual blessings, through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
So that, having engaged here below your heavenly power,
I may offer my thanksgiving and homage to the most Loving of Fathers.
Oh, St. Joseph,
I never weary contemplating you and Jesus asleep in your arms;
I dare not approach while He reposes near your heart.
Press Him in my name and kiss His fine Head for me and
Ask Him to return the Kiss when I draw my dying breath.
St. Joseph, Patron of departed souls – pray for me.
Amen.

This prayer was found in the fiftieth year of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. In 1505 it was sent from the Pope to Emperor Charles, when he was going into battle. Whoever shall read this prayer or hear it, or keep it about themselves, shall never die a sudden death or be drowned, nor shall poison take effect on them; neither shall they fall into the hands of the enemy, or shall be burned in any fire or shall be overpowered in any battle. Say for nine mornings in a row for anything you may desire. It has never been known to fail. Imprimatur: September 25, 1950
Hugh C. Boyle, Bishop of Pittsburgh
