How Choosing Joy Lifted a Family from Death to Life

The death of a child is one of the most devastating things anyone can experience. Relevant Radio® host Joe Sikorra is facing this tragedy in his own life, as both of his sons were diagnosed with Juvenile Batten Disease at a young age. Batten Disease is a rare neurodegenerative disease that leads to blindness, cognitive deficiency, and early death – and there is currently no cure.

Listening to Joe weekdays on The Joe Sikorra Show, you would never know that he has faced the death of his, John, two years ago and is currently watching his son, Ben, suffer the effects of Juvenile Batten Disease. Joe’s joy and love of life radiates on the air and in his conversations with listeners. But how does he have this joy when faced with so much suffering?

Joe shared his family’s story in a new book Defying Gravity: How Choosing Joy Lifted My Family From Death to Life and he recently stopped by The Drew Mariani Show® to discuss the book and share the secret of choosing joy in the midst of sorrow.
