Novena Day 8: For Teachers and Catechists

The Great Commission that Jesus gives us in the Gospel of Matthew includes making disciples, baptizing them, and also “teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.” Teachers and catechists are fulfilling the mission that Christ gave us in an important way, and each one of us is called to be a teacher and catechist for our family, friends, parish, and community.

Today, on the eighth day of the National Novena to Our Lady of Good Help, we ask our Blessed Mother to intercede for all teachers and catechists, that they may share the Gospel with those in their care in a way that helps us all to know, love, and serve God in this world, so we may be happy with Him forever in the next.

How to pray the novena:

  1. Pray the daily intention prayer below (check back each day for that day’s intention.)
  2. Pray the main novena prayers, found here

Day Eight: For Teachers and Catechists
“Teach them what they should know for salvation.”
O Mary, your Son endows his servants with many gifts, and calls individuals to serve him in different ways. As our mother, look with love upon all those who dedicate themselves to teaching young people as teachers or catechists. Intercede before the throne of God for them, so they may be effective communicators of the gospel. May their love for God and the Church serve as a witness to all they meet.
