A Spirit of Giving: The Story of 5 Good Samaritans

What fun it has been these past three weeks, making Christmas wishes come true! Our last 2019 Christmas Wish winner was randomly selected today, the fifteenth winner to receive $500 towards their wish this Advent Season.

Take a look at the beautiful and generous wishes that were granted each day, December 16-20:

Monday, December 16
With his $500 prize, Antelmo wished to give the money to a local non-profit in Austin that teaches children to play soccer and gives scholarships to kids who can’t afford to pay. The organization, explained Antelmo, believes that “every child regardless of their level of experience and ability can enjoy playing the game of soccer and emphasize player development and good sportsmanship over winning. They give to our Hispanic young teens a reason to dream big and stay away from drugs or gangs.”

Tuesday, December 17
Christine wished for $500 to give to her favorite local charity in San Francisco. “They live out the Gospel by serving 2,000 to 3,000 free meals every day in their dining hall for homeless people and other impoverished people. Their medical clinic serves over 4,600 people annually. They have a free clothing program, and they also provide alcohol and drug treatment,” she explained.

Wednesday, December 18
Lorena wished to be able to buy a plane ticket for her father to fly to Mexico. “He hasn’t visited in the last 30 years,” she explained. This visit is especially important so he can see Lorena’s grandfather, whose health is failing.

Thursday, December 19
Carol’s wish was to donate her winnings to her parish church. “We are in a very small community and are trying to keep our church building in good repair. … Where Father vests and we count the collection, ice is on the inside of the windows and it is drafty and cold. New windows sure would help to keep all more comfortable and help with the heating and cooling bills,” she said.

Friday, December 20
Lupe’s Christmas Wish is to be able to buy Christmas gifts for her “thirteen beautiful grandchildren”. What a blessing!

What beautiful, generous wishes we have seen these past weeks—so many people who wished to bless others this Christmas season. Relevant Radio® and CatholicMatch thank all of those who have entered to win the Christmas Wish contest. Congratulations to our fifteen winners!

Merry Christmas and may God bless you all!
