This Is a Baby

Did you participate in the March for Life or #FastforLife last Friday, but are looking for a way you can defend the unborn the rest of the year? Even if you don’t feel comfortable getting into debates, or if you feel like you don’t have the right words, you can still be a voice for the voiceless.

Patrick Madrid, host of The Patrick Madrid Show, recently put together a short video clip that shows the humanity of the unborn. Patrick explained, “It’s a tool for you to help people understand the reality of unborn human life.”

The video shows a 3-D ultrasound of a baby, and refutes the claim that the unborn are just a clump of cells, as some pro-choice people claim.

“That’s a baby. And there’s no way around,” Patrick emphasized. “It’s irrefutable, absolutely irrefutable. And if you’ve ever found yourself sort of flat-footed and floundering, and not exactly sure how to respond to the ferocity of the pro-abortion people … if you’ve ever wanted something that you, in 30 seconds, could just steamroll over all that nonsense. I think this video is that.”

Responding to one potential criticism of the argument, Patrick acknowledged that the image in the video is of a baby who is at about 8 months gestation, while many abortions take place in the first trimester. However, Patrick pointed out that this doesn’t change the argument.

“However old are you, whatever your age, maybe look in the mirror,” he said. “That’s what a human being looks like at your age. Dial back to when you were five years old. You were a lot shorter than you are now. You weighed only a fraction of what you weigh now. You had baby teeth then, maybe your hair was a different color. That’s what human beings look like at age five. Now, at age five, you look different from the way you looked at one year of age. You look different at one year of age from how you looked when you were a newborn. And it goes all the way back to the time of conception.”

“Life begins at conception,” Patrick affirmed. “And that’s an innocent human life from the very moment of conception. And if you see the appearance of an unborn person at one hour, one day, one week, one month, of course, by then you can gradually begin to discern the outlines of a human form. But that’s what human beings look like at that stage of development.”

Regarding the image in the video, Patrick said, “That is a human being. And that’s what human beings look like at that stage of development. And that’s science. That’s factual. That’s irrefutable. And we need to do a better job of sharing this message with people around us.”
