Trending with Timmerie – What Do the Political Views of High Schoolers Say?

Do you think that high school seniors are getting more conservative or more liberal? Well, it’s complicated.

Timmerie tells you about a long-standing survey called “Monitoring the Future” that examines the political beliefs of high school seniors and their potential implications.

The most recent survey indicates that high school boys are twice as likely to identify as conservative compared to liberal. Conversely, high school girls are twice as likely to lean towards liberalism. Timmerie notes that this trend is more pronounced among young women after the overturning of Roe vs. Wade, leading to increased radicalization on issues like abortion and feminism.

As young women become more radicalized, some men are also shifting towards conservative values. However, Timmerie expresses concern about a potential negative aspect, where some young boys might be adopting a “ticked off conservative mindset” as a reaction to perceived societal injustices, possibly leading to feeling hurt, angry, and defensive.

So, what can we learn and how should we respond? Should we encourage young men to give into the bitterness? Not exactly.

Timmerie highlights the importance of focusing on masculinity with integrity, mentorship, and skill development, rather than just adopting combative conservative stances. Similarly, for young women, she advocates for nurturing and validating desires for motherhood and marriage at an early age, while going against the feminist message of our time.
