Did Jesus Know When the World Would End? (Fr. Simon Says)

You might think about the end of the world and when it will happen. Did Jesus know the day or hour it would happen?

Fr. Richard Simon is having a conversation with a caller named Dario from Yuba City, California. Dario begins by questioning whether Jesus knows when the world will end. Fr. Richard Simon responds by referencing Philippians 2:6-7, explaining that Jesus, despite being the Son of God, willingly set aside some of His divine attributes to take on human form.

Fr. Simon emphasizes that God is love, and Jesus chose to become human to be like us in all things except sin. He clarifies that in His human nature, Jesus did not possess knowledge independent of what the Father revealed to Him. This is why Jesus didn’t have omniscience during His earthly life.

Fr. Simon then highlights the profound nature of Jesus’ sacrifice, where the all-powerful became powerless, and the all-knowing became dependent on His heavenly Father for knowledge in His human nature. He underscores that this was an act of great love for humanity.
