Choosing Life and Keeping the Faith

Recently on The Patrick Madrid Show, Patrick received a heart-breaking email from a young mother in California named Juana. Juana explained that she had heard the viral call with Alicia a few weeks ago in which Patrick had an emotional heart-to-heart with a distressed mother on her way to purchase abortion pills from a Planned Parenthood clinic. Juana wanted to share her own similar experience in the hopes that it might help others.

Some time ago, Juana explained that she had been experiencing marital conflict with her husband who had confessed that he had had a baby with another woman with whom he was having an affair. During that emotionally distressing period, Juana found out that she was pregnant with her fourth child. Going through that conflict with her husband gave way to doubt and uncertainty about whether to have the baby.

Soon after, Juana’s mother-in-law passed away, causing her husband to become depressed and begin drinking excessively. Eventually, he decided to leave the country for Mexico, knowing that due to his legal status, he would not be able to return. He left behind Juana who was four months pregnant, their twelve-year-old, their nine-year-old, and their nine-month-old baby. 5 months later, Juana had her fourth baby, and she said that she has been struggling with postpartum depression ever since.

Unfortunately, my kids keep getting sick. With all these viruses going around, I’m not able to work. I’m struggling so much. I wish I could give more to my children.

But every day, I thank God for having my baby. He’s now ten months old. I continue every day trying to be the best mom for my four kids. I know things will get better for us someday, hopefully soon. The thing is to trust God and never lose faith. My children won’t get less love. On the contrary, they now have another person who shows them unconditional love.

…Please pray for me and my kids.

“I tell you what, Juana. You now have, in me, a guaranteed prayer friend. I will pray for you and your children every day from now on,” said Patrick. “What a hero. And I wanted you to know about that because this is another example of where that call from Alicia moved Juana to want to share from her own experience.”

Patrick and Cyrus commended Juana for the courage that she showed and continues to show in the midst of every possible obstacle that life could throw at her. Patrick likened it to the writers of a script trying to brainstorm all of the most difficult circumstances that could befall a young mother. But in spite of everything that she and her family have faced, she never lost her faith in God, and she never gave in to the temptation to choose selfishness.

If you’re in a difficult situation that seems to be never-ending or continues to get exponentially worse, remember never to give up. Remember to never lose faith in God who never lost faith in you. Remember that He will provide you with every ounce of strength that you need to see your situation through. Remember the heroes like Juana who are still battling and will continue to battle until the very end.

“I have competed well; I have finished the race; I have kept the faith. From now on the crown of righteousness awaits me, which the Lord, the just judge, will award me on that day, and not only to me, but to all who have longed for his appearance.” (2 Timothy 4:7-8)
