The Millennial Saint: Blessed Carlo Acutis (The Cale Clarke Show)

Do you know much about Blessed Carlo Acutis? He was an inspiration and a reminder that you can be a saint in today’s modern culture. Cale Clarke tells you about his life.

Blessed Carlo Acutis, the church’s first millennial saint, died at the age of 15 and is on his way to canonization. Despite his young age, he left a remarkable legacy. Born in 1991 and raised in a non-practicing Catholic family, Carlo exhibited a strong spiritual sense from a young age. He became passionate about bringing people to Jesus Christ in the Eucharist and used technology, particularly the internet, to evangelize.

Carlo’s parents, initially non-practicing Catholics, were puzzled by his early devotion. His mother, Antonia, started studying theology in response to Carlo’s questions about the faith. Carlo’s deep longing to receive Jesus in the Eucharist led him to ask for an early first communion. He attended daily Mass, even during summer vacations, and was deeply committed to his faith. His heroic virtue was truly magnetic.

At the age of 11, Carlo noticed how few people attended Mass and prayed in front of the Blessed Sacrament. He delved into researching Eucharistic miracles and created a website documenting 150 of them. Despite his young age, he taught himself coding and web development to build this website, using technology for his mission.

Carlo was also known for his compassion and kindness. He befriended classmates who were bullied, helped kids with disabilities, and served the poor and homeless. He used his resources to assist others and was a beacon of joy in his community.

In 2006, at the age of 15, Carlo was diagnosed with untreatable leukemia. Facing his illness with remarkable faith and acceptance, he said he could die happy because he hadn’t wasted a minute on things not pleasing to God. He wasn’t bitter or upset but completely surrendered His will over to God. He passed away three days after his diagnosis.

Carlo Acutis serves as an inspiration, demonstrating that holiness is attainable for everyone, regardless of age. His story emphasizes the importance of a deep desire to become a saint and using one’s talents and resources for the glory of God. Are you determined to give God everything you have to achieve sainthood?
