“Being around Michelle was like spending a day in the sunshine.”
Jake Moore sat down with John Zimmer, Vice President of Apostolic Development for FOCUS, to talk about Servant of God Michelle Duppong, a FOCUS missionary who heroically answered the call to personal holiness, even while enduring immense suffering.
“The way I would describe Michelle right off was just simple and ordinary,” said John. “Ordinary in the best sense of the term. She was simple and she was cheerful. But the thing that struck most of us about Michelle was that she was filled with joy.”
John joked that missionaries are responsible for serving a large group of people so if at a function, they’re normally supposed to reach out and get to know as many people as they can. Michelle couldn’t do that. Everybody she met, she treated them as if they were the only person in the world. She locked in and would give you her full attention. She was a beacon of joy and light.
