Catholic speaker and leadership expert Fr. Nathan Cromly joined Timmerie to talk about one of the most misunderstood callings in our culture today: leadership. And let’s just say, it’s not about the corner office.
Fr. Nathan kicked things off with a powerful reminder: “Leadership is about influence, not position.”
In a world filled with leadership burnout, cynicism, and apathy, Fr. Nathan and Timmerie unpacked how Jesus flipped the entire concept of leadership upside down. Leadership in the Christian life isn’t reserved for CEOs and bishops. It’s a call to influence the world by living truthfully and faithfully, wherever you are.
Jesus didn’t carry credentials or titles. He sent out twelve apostles with nothing but faith, sandals, and courage. And that was enough to transform the world. If we’re not making an impact, we’re missing the mark. Leadership is about bringing Christ where He’s not—whether you’re a mom, a mechanic, a student, a businessman, or a priest.
Fr. Nathan and Timmerie also reflected on the powerful witness of Pope Leo XIV, whose first homilies are already making waves. His message is clear:
Holiness is the mission—and he’s not going it alone. He’s not saying “watch me.” He’s saying, “Come with me.”
Leo XIV isn’t leading with power but with authority—a difference that matters.
Fr. Nathan broke it down: While power comes from material attributes like titles, money, microphones, authority comes from transcendent values like truth, holiness, virtue.
“Authority comes from proximity to Christ,” he says. And when holiness and influence combine, the world doesn’t stand a chance.
Even if you don’t have a title, you can still lead with authority, like many saints.
Timmerie brought up a struggle especially common among men: “I’m not the decision-maker, so I can’t lead.” Fr. Nathan argued that that excuse is just laziness.
Leadership is also about action rather than control. Even support roles—those quiet, sacrificial spaces—are potent places of influence. Behind every great leader is someone who prayed, encouraged, and stayed faithful.
Jesus never said, “Get famous, then get holy.” His call is simple: “Give me your heart, and I’ll give you a platform.”
Leadership begins with surrender. The pattern of every saint? No fame, no fortune—just trust in God, and a willingness to lead from the heart.
In summary, leadership is everyone’s call. Your title doesn’t matter—your witness does. And holiness equals true authority, so don’t wait. Lead today.
