The Month of the Precious Blood

Hey, I had a conversation earlier this month with a great priest and friend of the show, Fr. Nicholas Federspiel. During that broadcast, he introduced us to a short but powerful prayer that I want you to pray with me:

I Claim the Protection of the Blood of the Lamb.

Now, Father Federspiel learned that prayer while in seminary as an effective tool against temptation. One summer, he was teaching a class on prayer and a mom at the parish attended the lesson. She had the prayer laminated and passed it out to everyone in the class. She also gave it to her middle-school aged son who was struggling with some doubts: You’re a loser, No one likes you, You’ll never get a girlfriend, You’ll never get a job, etc. The next day, her son started praying the prayer and felt an immediate sense of relief from the thoughts!

Why is this prayer so effective? Father Federspiel explained that the prayer calls upon Jesus’ very sacrifice at Calvary. The Blood of Jesus is our crimson fountain that releases us of all worry, he said. The Blood of Jesus also breaks down all divides in homes. How encouraging is that for you and me! What a blessing we have access to such a beautiful gift! Pope Saint John Paul II taught “The Blood of Christ is the undeniable proof of the heavenly Father’s love for all men, without exception.” I want you to think about that – without exception. Do you know Christ’s love? Do you know that Christ shed his blood, for you?

So, when you’re feeling discouraged or tempted, I want you to pray these words: I Claim

“I Claim the Protection of the Blood of the Lamb.”

If you missed my conversation with Fr. Federspiel, be sure to listen to the full segment above.

God bless you!
