A Day, Month, and Year for St. Joseph

Are you a big fan of St. Joseph? We are!

And what better day to honor St. Joseph than on the Solemnity of St. Joseph during the Month of St. Joseph and the Year of St. Joseph. Trifecta!

So what can we do to honor St. Joseph during the month of March? Here are a few ideas:

Honor Your Father

Visit, call, or pray for your dad this month. Don’t you think the foster father of Jesus would want you to give honor and respect to your own earthly father? If he is still alive, tell him how much you appreciate everything he has done for you. If he’s not, pray for his soul. Even if you don’t have a great relationship with your father, consider extending some forgiveness and prayers his way.

Pray a Novena to St. Joseph

If you want to pray in the nine days leading up to the Solemnity, you would start on March 10. But you can pray this prayer any nine days that you want! Find the prayer on the free Relevant Radio app! While you’re at it, find the Litany to St. Joseph and other prayers on the app as well.

Decorate with Lilies

Joseph is often pictured with a lily, a sign of holy purity. As a premium example of living a chaste and virtuous life, a lily is a beautiful way to remember him. And hey, maybe now is a great time to call on the Chaste Heart of Joseph for guidance in how to talk to your kids about following his holy example.

Receive a Plenary Indulgence

Did you know that a special plenary indulgence is available for the Year of St. Joseph? There are many ways to receive it and they are all explained here. The Year of Saint Joseph goes through December 8, 2021 so don’t miss out on this opportunity.

Pope Francis’ Prayer to St. Joseph

Hail, Guardian of the Redeemer,
Spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
To you God entrusted his only Son;
in you Mary placed her trust;
with you Christ became man.

Blessed Joseph, to us too,
show yourself a father
and guide us in the path of life.
Obtain for us grace, mercy and courage,
and defend us from every evil. Amen.
