“The Saints: Adventures of Faith and Courage” turns our attention to France in 1858, where, in a mountainous town called Lourdes, the oldest of the nine Soubirous children sees something that can only be explained by faith.
Tune in for Bernadette of Lourdes, the witness to Our Lady of Lourdes’ apparitions, for this young girl’s story of bravery and faithfulness to God in the face of scrutiny and threats. Whether large crowds followed her, or the grotto was closed with armed guards, Bernadette had a commitment to Our Lady’s message and found her way around every obstacle in her path.
After the conclusion of the apparitions in July 1858, Bernadette entered the Sisters of Notre Dame and remained there, in prayer and community, until her death on April 16th, 1879 – the day we celebrate her canonization in the United States!
